Meet Our Team
Our team at TRUEBODY is committed to motivating, educating and inspiring you to reach not only your goals, but also finding balance in life, fitness and health. We are always available to support you to GET FIT and STAY FIT.
General Manager and Chief Fitness Officer
For 35 years, I have been a pioneer and leader in cutting edge programming for the health industry. I have developed fitness and yoga programming while training professionals and students in over 20 countries. As a master instructor, I am known for teaching classes focusing on quality and depth, where I provide my students with not only physical benefits, but also increased motivation, education and mindfulness.
Co-founder and CEO
I am an entrepreneur, inventor, software engineer, product designer, executive, and last but not least, a health and fitness enthusiast. Together with my brother, Marc, I have founded over half a dozen companies, in tech, biotech, and sports technology. For many years, we ran a company called OPNET, based right here in Bethesda, so I feel a strong connection to TRUEBODY’s neighborhood. I’m a firm believer in the concept of “a sound mind in a sound body”, meaning that physical fitness is an essential part of mental well-being. I thrive off of a well-rounded set of activities, including tennis, yoga, all types of cardio, strength training, swimming, and skiing. In general, I am up for any type of physical activity! I was interested in creating TRUEBODY to offer a new type of club not only in terms of the size and format, but also by bringing the best in technology, training methodologies, instruction quality, and customer service to the health and fitness arena. I look forward to meeting you at TRUEBODY, and please always feel free to contact me with your ideas or comments. You can also follow @alainjcohen on Twitter.
Co-founder and CEO
I am an entrepreneur, engineer, inventor, and executive based in the Washington area, as well as a lifelong sports and fitness enthusiast. Together with my brother, Alain, I have founded over half a dozen companies, in tech, biotech, and sports technology. We moved our first business, a publicly traded company called OPNET, to Bethesda, and became big fans of the area. I love the healthy vibe of Bethesda and the wellness-minded attitude of the people who live and work here. Personally, I enjoy tennis, yoga, and strength training. For me, TRUEBODY represents a great opportunity to innovate in the health and fitness area, by providing a truly balanced and complete set of offerings, as well by using the latest in technology and exercise science. I also emphasize delivering the highest standards in customer service. We want all of our members to feel not only satisfied, but also excited about their experience at TRUEBODY! Never hesitate to contact me to share your thoughts about our club.
With a background in dance, meditation, and teaching, I have been a massage therapist since 1999 and a Tai Chi practitioner since 1994. For seven years, I served as the lead instructor and curriculum developer for several massage schools and have spent the last six years mentoring, coaching, and supporting therapists as a spa manager. My approach in bodywork and as a teacher is to help people identify and release self-limiting habits to make room for new and better ones. I believe that as we bring alignment and freedom to the body, we also bring centeredness and calm to the mind.
